Trek Essentials

Every trip items. The gear that I wont leave the house without. The Items that fit in my personal item/ carryon type trips.

adidas Prime Backpack

This bag is the ultimate travel item. I have used it on weekend trips and also on two week trips through different climates. It is deceptively big. When fully expanded it is not much smaller than a small suitcase. The bag is extremely durable and it even has a lifetime warranty. The other huge plus are the straps which are very comfortable but also are made to stretch which lowers the stress on your shoulders and also makes it less likely that the straps are going to get torn from the bag.

GoPro Hero5 Black

Originally I thought I didn’t deserve to own a GoPro because I wasn’t doing anything overly extreme. But looking back I have footage of snorkeling, driving through beautiful locations, walking around museums and I even had my best man record my wedding on my GoPro. I think it’s a camera everyone traveling should own. It is small, durable and waterproof. There are many moments you will want to record, but you will be afraid to take out your phone. And I do love my Hero 5 it is a cheaper option for regular travelers, but if you are the type of person that likes to be at the forefront of technology the newest GoPro HERO9 Black would be the camera for you.

Heavy Treks

Items for when you have lots of space. When you are driving or you have a checked bag.

LOCTOTE Flak Sack II

This bag is a great option for a day trip or if you are on a longer trip but you just need a bag to put your essentials in while you explore. The main function of the bag is to be anti theft. If someone was trying to slash it to get your things they might need an industrial torch. The bag is bear approved, meaning that a bear could not open it for over an hour. So if you are on a hike and you have something that you don’t want a bear to have this is the item you need. Overall its a good looking bag that is made out of nice materials and a good companion while you explore.

Tesalate Beach Towels

There is not much more to say about these towels apart from they don’t let sand stick to them. The company has options in singles and doubles in numerous patterns. It is a little heavier than a normal towel but it is able to fold and take up a lot less space. The one I have is the larger size, and I would say it is plenty of room for two people. Now saying that sand never sticks to it would not be true. Wet sand does, but as soon as it dries it is much easier to just shake off your towel. So by the time you get to your car or hotel you wont be tracking the sand home.

YETI Rambler Chug Bottle

If your trip is to a metropolis with good clean water I would say you can leave the YETI behind, but there are a number of trips where this YETI Rambler is a must. Obviously if you are visiting a location that undrinkable water the YETI is a great way to keep your water cold and refill it from a safe source. You could go around and buy small water bottles, but they will get warm fast and are not great for the environment. Where I do find the YETI as a must is trips into the wilderness or long drives. As an example I will use my trip through Death Valley National Park in the summer. The YETI kept my ice from melting and it cooled off the water when I refilled it. And by the way if you were wondering it was 119F (48C).

Outlery | Portable & Reusable Stainless Steel Travel Cutlery Set

This set of cutlery was a compromise that we had with my wife. I wanted a set that is extremely compact and she wanted to have a regular fork and knife that are separate and not a knife spork combo. I have to say the Outlery satisfied both. They are very compact when they are in their box and at the same time they are a full cutlery when they are in use. The materials used to make the cutlery are very nice and they feel sturdy. The one thing to keep in mind is that unless you have water available to immediately wash cutlery you might want to bring a bag to put them in.

CLIQ Camping Chair

These chairs are a must have. I really got to use them during the pandemic. We got most of our food to-go so we spend a ton of time eating in parks while socially distancing. The chairs are very comfortable and very sturdy. It is usually advertised for fishing or around a fire, but I even used it at home to watch TV. Also a big bonus is how quickly it dries when wet and also how small it is when it folds (a little bigger than a water bottle).
